Job description
Purpose of the Role:
Controlling Managing and supporting the supply chain and purchasing process to deliver race car programmes.
Role Dimensions:
- Reporting directly to the Technical Purchasing Manager this role is focussed on two main areas.
- Working in the Technical purchasing team to deliver the cost effective and timely procurement of tooling and components to support the race car and other programmes. programme and associated projects.
- Delivering improvements to the complete procurement process from design to delivery of components.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Purchasing in support of all programmes with particular focus on either complex multi-op machined metallic components, precision engineering and/or CF composite components, assemblies and tooling.
- Development of the supply chain, focusing on reducing lead-time, increasing agility and delivery performance and ensuring all specifications and quality standards are met.
- Representation of the department and presentation of a professional and dynamic approach.
- Interaction and communication with all of the key stakeholders.
- Development, loading creation and maintenance of purchase orders.
- Negotiate with suppliers, manage their performance and ensure supplier due date adherence.
- Work with the quality team to ensure project risks are mitigated ahead of delivery and all work is being managed within processes outlined.
- Deliver programmes within the Key Performance Indicator targets.
- Provide support across the Technical Purchasing team as work load dictates.
- Any other tasks as required by the Company.
Job requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Education to degree level in an Engineering, Project Management, Procurement or related discipline and professional training and certification (CIPS) would be a distinct advantage.
- OR simplify to Degree qualified in a related discipline or equivalent experience – professional training and certification (CIPS) would be a beneficial.
- A proactive, responsible, calm and flexible approach is required. Covered in personal attributes
- The role has periods of intense workload, and therefore, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and manage time effectively is required. Covered in personal attributes
- Experience in a similar position within a high-precision engineering and manufacturing environment is required (ideally composites and/or complex machined metallics).
- Experience and understanding of the commercial aspects of low volume small batch manufacture.
- Motorsport or high precision engineering industry experience would be a distinct advantage.
