Purpose of the Role:

You will be part of a team of skilled technicians and programmers working at pace to deliver precision engineered components manufactured by one of our additive manufacturing technologies, driving performance on track throughout the season. During the build season you will be responsible for preparing and loading our machines, hand finishing, inspection, packing and kitting of components with diligence, playing your part in the demanding task of building a new race car. During the race season you will be responsible for delivering upgrade packages and continued aero development. You will use your skills and experience in additive manufacturing to manufacture car components, tooling, pit equipment and parts for our wind tunnel model. Role Dimensions:

Reporting to the Additive Manufacturing Shift Lead(s), it is your responsibility to deliver high-quality components on time and in full whilst working to best practice and embracing continuous improvement to meet the overarching strategic vision for the department. The role demands a skilled, diligent, and agile person that works well as part of the team and is target driven.


Please note this role is Monday-Friday on an evening shift.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • To provide the highest quality components, jigs, and fixtures, appropriate to the application to support the delivery of the schedule on time and in full, maintaining energy and momentum throughout the shift
  • Prepare machines for builds, carry out calibrations and conduct routine maintenance, resolve machine build issues, and recover build failures to minimise scrap
  • Process complete component platforms through automated wash machines and ultrasonics, prepare components for hand finishing
  • Process parts through automated finishing equipment such as de-powdering stations and smoothing equipment.
  • Hand finish components with respect to our standards using technical drawings or CAD annotations
  • Conduct fundamental inspection of all components before dispatch to the next operation.
  • Dispatching of car components and kitted aero programmes using departmental MRP software.
  • Evaluate the assigned schedule and where potential delays are foreseen, ensure timely communication to shift lead(s), supporting alternative plans that minimise the effect on delivery
  • Identify build faults, employ appropriate contain and inform the programmers and / or Shift Lead(s)
  • Working to standard operating procedures whilst maintaining cleanliness and housekeeping standards within the workplace
  • Support and encourage team working across the shift and shift patterns
  • Support the Shift Lead(s) in ensuring minimal equipment downtime in your area by effective support of the TPM system
  • Work efficiently within manufacturing as part of an established team

Job requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Experience with hand tools and using rotary finishing tools
  • A high level of dexterity is required to handle and hand finish delicate components
  • Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office products, Materialise Magics and MRP systems would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of various additive manufacturing technologies such as SLA, SLS, FDM, Polyjet and post processing techniques such as wash out, automated de-powdering, hand finishing, and vapour smoothing would be advantageous
  • Has participated in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
