Purpose of the Role: 

The Finance Business Process Specialist plays a key role in strengthening how Finance operates by supporting clear, consistent, and well governed business processes across McLaren Racing.

This is an exciting time to join the team, as Finance is shaping its future ways of working and strengthening the foundations that will support the organisation for years to come. In this role, you will work within the Process Improvement & Governance team to develop a strong understanding of core Finance business cycles, analyse and document end to end processes, and support the application of the Finance governance framework to ensure processes are well defined, consistently applied, and appropriately controlled.

Principal Accountabilities: 

  • Improve how Finance processes operate end‑to‑end, ensuring information flows are efficient, accurate and decision‑ready.

  • Identify opportunities in Finance processes and data, diagnosing root causes and prioritising practical improvements.

  • Assist with prioritised improvement initiatives by gathering requirements, organising workshops, and coordinating testing activities.

  • Deliver targeted improvements independently, automating manual processes and streamlining workflows.

  • Monitor the impact of improvements, tracking performance, benefits realised and further optimisation opportunities.

  • Help build and deliver a consistent Finance governance framework across McLaren Racing, clarifying ownership, standards and decision rights.

  • Work closely with Finance, Procurement, IT and People teams to align ways of working and enable effective adoption of change.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, supporting clear communication, engagement and sustainable change.

Job requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience: 

  • Experience improving finance or business processes.

  • Strong process mapping and documentation skills.

  • Understanding of core Finance processes (P2P, O2C, month‑end, approvals).

  • Analytical problem‑solver with practical improvement mindset.

  • Clear communicator able to build relationships across teams.

  • Comfortable working with data, including Excel and basic analysis.

  • Experience working with ERP or Finance systems, supporting process design, data flows and controls.

Personal Attributes: 

  • Strong process mindset, naturally thinking in end‑to‑end flows, controls and ownership.

  • Detail‑focused but pragmatic, able to balance accuracy, control and delivery pace.

  • Confident facilitating structured workshops, bringing clarity, decisions and documented outcomes.

  • Comfortable working within governance frameworks, while helping evolve them where needed.

  • Able to challenge constructively, identifying control gaps or inconsistencies without creating friction.

  • Clear and precise communicator, translating complex Finance processes into understandable language.

McLaren Racing is based at the iconic McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) near Woking. Here at McLaren, we offer hybrid working with 3 days a week based in the MTC.

The MTC is connected to Woking mainline station via regular shuttle buses, from which London Waterloo is a 30 minute train ride.
