McLaren Racing Limited, Finance Partnering and Financial Controls Term: 13 month Fixed Term Contract (12 months in role plus 1 month handover)
Description
At McLaren Racing, we're constantly looking at new ways to add value in our pursuit of performance.
We are recruiting for a 1-year placement to help kickstart your career here at McLaren Racing. Whether you are undertaking a placement year as part of a relevant Degree, or you have completed your degree within the last 12 months and are looking to take on your first role, our 1-year programme aims to combine your passion for competitive sport alongside your desire to become a finance professional.
Finance plays an ever-increasing role in directly contributing to our on-track performance, and in support of that, we have a close working relationship with our operational and leadership teams across our organisation. We work to deliver the right information, at the right time, to support critical decisions and ensure our financial controls complement our organisations progress.
As a Finance Intern, you will gain firsthand experience supporting the financial analytics and control team(s) critical to the continued success of our Racing Teams.
Principal Accountabilities
The role will spend a year working within the same team, and as we get to know each other, we will share more details to help you identify your preferences, in departments including:
F1 Race Team Operations and Engineering Business Partners
F1 Manufacturing & Production Business Partners
World Endurance Championship Finance
Financial Controls and Services
Financial Strategy, Planning and Analysis
Commercial Operations
During the scheme, you will gain an in depth understanding of the business, contribute towards forecasts and budgets as well as ensuring the financial targets for the relevant business units are met, through collaboration with business partners, financial analysis, and the application of financial controls.
Job requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
A recent graduate in either Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Mathematics or other numerate degree.
OR currently studying towards a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or a related discipline, AND predicted to achieve a 2:1 or above in your degree.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Some familiarity with Office 365, Microsoft Excel, and business tools (e.g., Power BI / WorkDay Adaptive Planning) is beneficial.
Professional qualifications are important but only play part of your ability to thrive within our culture, so your personality and approach are more important for this role.
The right candidates will have:
A strong passion for McLaren and the sport in which we aim to thrive
A keen interest to work in the competitive motor sport industry
Confidence to communicate with stakeholders of all levels, up to the senior executive team
A proactive self-starter who can independently manage their workload daily
An ever-learning mindset, looking to take new challenges and solve new problems
The ability to be flexible and on hand to support team members when required
The ability to translate complex financial data to non-finance colleagues
Additional Information
We’re offering the opportunity to work with and learn from a team of highly motivated, top performing finance professionals. We work in a fast-paced environment and do so as one team, with one objective, that we will fully integrate you within. As a team we pride ourselves on being open, honest and challenging to each other to operate at our best. At the end of the programme you will either return to your final year of study with a plan for a post-graduate position, or, if you’re already a posy-graduate, you’ll aim to develop into a longer term role.
