Team Description

The Indirect Procurement team manages the sourcing of goods and services that support all non-car-related functions at McLaren Racing. This includes areas such as Commercial, Business Performance, Marketing, Heritage, IT, and Facilities. The team plays a key role in ensuring strategic procurement decisions align with the new cost cap regulations introduced in Formula 1 in 2026.

Purpose of the Role

This role requires initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to work proactively under time constraints. You’ll gain hands-on experience in supplier engagement, contract support, and procurement operations that contribute to the success of McLaren Racing’s business functions. Your role will be based at the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) in Woking, Surrey.


Role Dimensions:
The intern programme is a 13-month fixed term opportunity and will see you working closely with the team and all levels of management.

We expect to close applications on 16th of March 2026. If successful you will be invited to an in-person interview at the MTC during 13th – 17th April 2026. 

Principal Accountabilities:

We would expect the following from successful candidates:

  • Integrate quickly into the team to support procurement operations.

  • Take ownership of assigned projects with guidance from experienced team members.

  • Contribute to sourcing activities, supplier communications, and data analysis.

  • Support documentation and reporting aligned with cost cap compliance.

Job requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience: 

The following attributes are required for this role: 

  • Studying a degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Sourcing, Business Management, or a related discipline, with a minimum predicted grade of 2:1 (or equivalent) Strong computing skills, including proficiency in Excel and familiarity with procurement systems or databases.

  • A proactive mindset and interest in high-performance environments.

  • Previous experience in procurement roles is desirable but not essential, with exposure through academic projects, volunteering, or part-time work being welcomed.  

  • Must be eligible for a placement year starting summer 2026.

McLaren Racing is based at the iconic McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) near Woking. Here at McLaren, we offer hybrid working with 3 days a week based in the MTC.

The MTC is connected to Woking mainline station via regular shuttle buses, from which London Waterloo is a 30 minute train ride.
