Purpose of the Role:

The role of the Brand Partner Strategy team is to drive McLaren’s commercial success by helping our partners achieve their marketing and business goals through McLaren.  

We do this by bringing strategic rigour, insight and creativity to McLaren’s new business pitches, partnership activation, fan marketing and brand strategy.  

The successful candidate will help grow McLaren’s commercial partnerships by supporting the development of compelling, creative and insight-driven new business pitches and proposals. The candidate will work across all our racing series.  

 

As part of the role, you’ll also support the team across a variety of strategic projects that enhance our ability to deliver results for our partners and drive the performance of McLaren’s marketing activity.  

 

Role Dimensions:

  • Research, ideate and write presentations and other materials for new partner proposals 

  • Manage and review creative and design input into proposals 

  • Develop strategically compelling cases for partners to work with McLaren 

  • Support the team with further brand marketing or brand strategy initiatives  

  • Help to manage core sales materials and commercially sensitive information 

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  •          Preparing partnership proposals, pitch responses and activation ideas (70%) 

  •          Operational support for the strategy team (20%) 

  •          Marketing and brand strategy – research, insight generation and planning (10%) 

Job requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Expected 

  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in:  

  • Sports organisations or other rights holders 

  • Sports marketing agencies 

  • Advertising or marketing agencies 

  • Sportswear brands 

  • Able to prepare compelling presentations with an exceptional degree of written accuracy and attention to detail  

  • Able to take a brief, explore it through questioning, and recommend an appropriate approach  

  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment 

  • Excellent communication skills and a focus on accuracy  

  • A track record of getting things done against tight deadlines 

 

Advantageous, but not essential 

  • Experience on new business pitches  

  • Experience briefing design teams  

  • Growing understanding of the marketing and sponsorship landscape  

  • Experience with research tools such as GWI

McLaren Racing is based at the iconic McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) near Woking. Here at McLaren, we offer hybrid working with 3 days a week based in the MTC.

The MTC is connected to Woking mainline station via regular shuttle buses, from which London Waterloo is a 30 minute train ride.
