Purpose of the Role:
To assist in the operation, maintenance and development of the teams’ Driver-In-The-Loop (DIL) simulators.
Role Dimensions:
The Simulator team sits within the Simulation & Simulator group.
The role will involve significant collaboration with the rest of WEC Technical department, particularly regarding Simulation, Vehicle Performance and Control Systems.
The role will involve close collaboration with our Race Team engineering group.
The role will also involve interaction with internal and external organisations who may be involved in the operation and development of the simulators.
Principal Accountabilities:
Preparation of the DIL simulators to support the test programme.
Operation of the DIL simulators during testing.
Contribute to the maintenance and development of the simulator software code base.
Contribute to simulator development projects (hardware and software)
Completion of ad-hoc simulation & modelling projects may be required from time to time.
Job requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential
Outstanding academic background with a BEng in Mechanical or Control Engineering.
Familiarity with the one or more of the following coding languages: C, C++, Python.
Experience in using and developing models in Matlab / Simulink
Ability to work to deadlines on a variety of timescales and balance your workload between different projects.
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical information.
Strong analytical skills underpinned by a data driven approach.
Desirable
Practical experience of building and/or maintaining electrical systems and/or circuit design.
Practical experience of computer systems and networking.
Practical experience of the maintenance of mechanical systems.
Knowledge and understanding of racing car vehicle dynamics.
Previous exposure to the track/race team environment.

McLaren Racing is based at the iconic McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) near Woking.
