Purpose of the Role:  

The Specialist, Technical Delivery plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth, consistent, and effective delivery of technical projects and initiatives. They are responsible for planning, managing risks, issues, and dependencies, as well as providing clear and accurate reporting. Acting as a key interface between delivery teams and stakeholders, this role ensures strong relationships and transparent communication to drive project success. 
  

Principal Accountabilities:  

  • Delivery Planning & Execution: Develop, maintain, and execute delivery plans, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and resource availability.   

  • Risk, Issue & Dependency Management: Identify, assess, and proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies, implementing mitigation strategies to ensure seamless project execution.   

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Act as a key interface between technical teams and stakeholders, ensuring clear, transparent, and timely communication to manage expectations and foster collaboration.   

  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track progress, analyse key delivery metrics, and provide accurate reports.    

  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to best practices, governance standards, and compliance requirements across all technical delivery activities.   

  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Identify opportunities to optimise processes, enhance delivery frameworks, and drive efficiencies within the team.  

  • Collaboration & Coordination: Ensure seamless coordination and alignment between technical and business teams.   

  • Escalation Management: Act as a point of escalation for critical delivery challenges, ensuring swift resolution and minimising impact on project timelines.   

  • Change Management: Support change initiatives by ensuring smooth integration of new technologies, processes into existing workflows.

Job requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:  

Essential:  

  • Project and Delivery Management: Proven experience in planning, managing, and delivering technical projects within complex environments.

  • Risk, Issue, and Dependency Management: Strong ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks and dependencies to minimise disruptions.   

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.  

  • Reporting & Data Analysis: Experience in tracking project performance, generating reports. 

  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Strong analytical skills to assess complex situations, propose solutions, and drive resolutions. 

  • Collaboration & Coordination: Ability to work effectively across multiple teams, ensuring alignment and coordination for successful delivery.

  • Technical Awareness: Understanding of modern technology landscapes, software development lifecycles, and IT infrastructure.   

 

Desirable: 

  • Tools & Frameworks: Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira.  

  • Service Management Experience: Knowledge of IT service management frameworks and best practices.   

  • Experience in Large-Scale Transformation Projects: Exposure to enterprise-wide programs. 

  • Commercial Awareness: Understanding of financial and contractual aspects of technical project delivery.

McLaren Racing is based at the iconic McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) near Woking. Here at McLaren, we offer hybrid working with 3 days a week based in the MTC.

 

Our state of the art, sustainable campus offers many facilities including a gym, restaurant and indoor and outdoor break-out areas, as well as direct access to park and common land. The MTC is connected to Woking mainline station via regular shuttle buses, from which London Waterloo is a 30 minute train ride.
