Job description
Purpose of the Role:
As a Treasury manager reporting to the Head of Financial Control, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring efficient cash management, foreign exchange risk management, and funding for the McLaren Racing Group. Your work will be vital in maintaining a robust control environment that minimizes financial and operational risk, facilitating performance in the speed of our decision making.
Role Dimensions:
Based in Woking, you will take a lead in our team for monitoring our cash flows, with a hands on approach for mitigating risk and adding predictability to our business. You will build strong relationships both internally and externally with key stakeholders, and be an empowered to lead recommendations on best actions in line with our company policies.
We're looking for someone with existing treasury knowledge who is eager to develop further. You'll have access to internal learning programs and external third-party providers to expand your expertise in treasury management.
Principal Accountabilities:
Strategic Cash Management
Oversee the weekly and monthly cash position, including variance analysis and review of all treasury transactions, foreign exchange deals, and payment proposals across multiple accounts and entities.
Develop and execute strategies for the efficient management and positioning of all Racing bank accounts, including the optimal use of foreign exchange swaps to concentrate cash or debt, thereby minimising interest costs and maximising interest income.
Lead the development and implementation of short and long-term liquidity strategies, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives, maximising returns on surplus funds, and protecting against volatility.
Risk Management & Hedging
Proactively monitor and analyse foreign exchange, and other financial risks, recommending and executing appropriate hedges against the Company policies
Review hedging commitments against the Company policies.
Ensure all foreign exchange settlements are meticulously managed and executed on time.
Reporting & Compliance
Prepare and present comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly treasury management reports, including cash/debt positions and forecasts, to the CFO and senior leadership.
Manage all treasury reporting and analytics for internal stakeholders and external auditors, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations and internal controls.
Banking Relationships & Systems
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with banking partners and other financial institutions, optimising services and negotiating favourable terms.
Manage bank account administration, including updating bank mandates, assisting with Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements, credit checks, and overseeing the efficient operation of banking systems like HSBCnet.
Conduct regular analysis of bank charges, actively seeking and implementing cost efficiencies.
Drive the review, evaluation, and proposal of best-in-class treasury technology functionality, leading projects to develop wider use of treasury management systems (TMS) for booking transactions and inputting trades.
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement:
Oversee the management of FX rates files and ensure timely and accurate input of monthly rates.
Lead initiatives for continuous process improvement within the treasury function, leveraging automation and best practices to enhance efficiency and control.
Prepare and submit all required reports to banks for review by the CFO, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Management of the weekly cash position, including variance analysis, review of treasury transactions including foreign exchange and payment team proposals across multiple accounts and entities
Support the FP&A team with forecast rates and review of forecasts against trends and expectations.
Job requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
The post holder will have:
A relevant professional accounting or treasury qualification such as Association Corporate Treasurers (AMCT) / Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

McLaren Racing is based at the iconic McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) near Woking. Here at McLaren, we offer hybrid working with 3 days a week based in the MTC.
